Christy came to yoga over 30 years ago when it seemed like an interesting way to get a required PE credit in college. That small taste led to a lifetime of exploring what yoga had to offer – from flexibility and fitness in her twenties, to stamina and stress reduction when kids entered the picture, and then later through health and emotional challenges. She entered the 200-hour teacher training program at Abundant Joy as a gift to herself for her 50th birthday.
“I think it’s amazing that whatever you’re going through mentally or physically or emotionally, yoga can meet you there. Even if all you can do is show up and breathe. That what inspired me to call my class “YES You Can Yoga” – as long as you’re breathing, you’re doing yoga!”
Christy holds a BA in Communications and in her day job, she gets to look at pictures of puppies and kittens all day long as a marketing consultant for veterinarians. She also volunteers locally with NAMI-Waukesha (National Alliance on Mental Illness) and for Family Promise.
She has completed a 20-hour course on Trauma-Informed Yoga and is especially interested in expanding her teaching to include strategies for using yoga to help with mental health conditions and in coping with cancer treatment.
