Yoga Nidra

Yoga Nidra is a powerful, ancient form of guided meditation that induces relaxation & healing of the body, mind & spirit. It rests and renews & offers the opportunity to release accumulated tension. Yoga Nidra provides benefit to those suffering from: Chronic Pain, Fibromyalgia, Depression, Chronic Fatigue, Post Traumatic Stress, Insomnia, Anxiety, Restlessness, Digestive and stress-related disorders. Most of us don’t get adequate rest, are over-stimulated & suffer from accumulated stress. The effects of this may be evident in difficulty concentrating, muscle aches/pains & feeling worn down. Over time, this can create illness & disease. Regular meditation can help restore your vital life energy, prevent disease, improve your mood and create more ease & peace of mind in daily life. Treat yourself to this DIVINE SLEEP. Yoga Nidra guided meditation sessions last between 45-60 minutes and can be equivalent to 3 hrs of sleep. Plan to have pillows & blankets and dress in comfortable clothing. (This is Guided Meditation, not an active Yoga class)

Evening of Restorative Yoga

This class is an invitation to slow down, take a breath, relax your body and mind and release held tension. Living with stress is not only difficult but it can wreak havoc on our bodies. So much of our lives is encouraging us to “do more’ – learn, succeed, earn, obtain. Take a pause from “doing” in this restorative class and remember how to consciously relax. The more we practice consciously relaxing, the easier it becomes to stay grounded and calm, even in life’s most challenging circumstances. Restorative yoga is a gentle practice suitable for practitioners of all levels. It is a style of yoga, practiced on the ground, relaxing the muscles in restful poses using props (blankets, bolsters, blocks) to support the body.

Benefits of a Restorative Yoga Practice:

Reduce Stress - Improved Sleep - Elevate and Stabilize your mood - Supportive for recovery of illness or injury - Relaxation of muscles tension

Trauma Sensitive Yoga Foundations Training (In Person/ In Studio)

About the Training: Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY)  is the first yoga-based empirically validated, clinical intervention for complex trauma or chronic, treatment-resistant post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).  A program of the Center for Trauma and Embodiment (CFTE) at JRI, it is the only yoga model of its kind to have met the criteria for inclusion in the US-based National Registry of Evidenced-based Programs and Policies (NREPP) database published by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).

This 20-hour (14 hours in person or live via zoom; 6 hours self-study) foundational training will emphasize the core components of the practice of trauma-sensitive yoga, and how those fundamental elements relate to any anti-oppressive and trauma-informed work.

Designed for anyone interested in deepening their understanding of the whole-system impact of complex trauma (both systemic and interpersonal), this training will review the significant effects of trauma on the brain, body, and relationships, as well as the psychological and neuroscientific underpinnings of the TCTSY model.  Participants may include, but are not limited to, yoga instructors, social workers, mental health clinicians, educators, activists, somatic practitioners and healers, or other health care professionals, as its applications can extend far beyond the yoga mat.

  • Experiential in design, the training will encourage you to explore your understanding of trauma and the how it impacts the whole of the survivors life. It will emphasize the core components of the practice and process of Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga and will provide specific tools to support participants to facilitate body based movement and breath practices that are vital to the healing process.

Participants will learn how to meet survivors on their healing journey and explore a shared authentic experience of embodiment. Participants will gain a foundational understanding of this empowerment based program that facilitates a present moment experience of safety and predictability. This training is intended to support participants in expanding their current clinical or movement-based practice to incorporate some of the TCTSY methodology, focusing on movements and language that actively share power and agency with practitioners. Group lectures, practice through movement and breath, as well as group practicum will be offered.
